ACCESS DRIVE CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION

Access Drive Capacity Development Foundation (ACDF) is a social enterprise with a mission to empower young people in underserved communities through strategic capacity development programmes, with the right mindset, skills, tools and opportunities needed for personal and community development. In the long run, ACDF seeks to be the foremost organisation responsible for raising a new generation of problem solvers and innovators that are fully equipped with the requisite skills, knowledge and tools needed in developing Africa’s economy. ACDF’s activities are hinged on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, as efforts are particularly centred around the provision of education for marginalised young people across Africa, thereby contributing its own quota towards SDG goal 1, which seeks to eradicate poverty by 2030.

ACDF strongly believes in the power of experiential learning, and as such places strong emphasis on honing the skills of these underserved students through internship placements. The students are given opportunities to intern with various organisations and are therefore exposed to the multiple career pathways that can be explored, while also developing their skill set. These students are drawn from public schools and are carefully matched to suitable organisations depending on their skill set.

Our Programme Design Entails:

  1. Discovery: Helping young people to discover themselves.
  2. Training: Strategic training that builds talent into transactional skills.
  3. Hangout with Champions: Monthly networking session to learn about new inventions and possible collaboration opportunities.
  4. Strategic Internship Opportunities: Matching students to internship organisations.
  5. Work and Study & Incubation Programs: Informing students about summer job opportunities.

Some milestones include ACDF’s partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to facilitate resuscitation of a 10 year abandoned ICT Laboratory, and also set up Digital clubs across the 6 geo-political zones of Nigeria. ACDF worked with schools to design and implement programs that ensured functional Digital clubs. Students in Awe Local Government in Oyo state, Dukku Local Government in Gombe state, Konshisha Local Government in Benue state amongst others, were given the opportunity to learn digital skills such as coding, productive internet engagement etc.

More recently was ACDF’s partnership with Google Digital Skills Nigeria to drive the “Google Online Safety Initiative” for primary and secondary school students across Nigeria, in which over 5000 students underwent training on online safety. ACDF has also empowered over 4700 young people with the skills needed to effectively search and communicate relevant information. The training was instrumental to the high performances of our trainees in their UTME examination amongst other things, and this was made possible by Google Digital Skills.

At ACDF, emphasis is placed on championing initiatives that promote inclusion, empowerment and innovation. This therefore informed our core values of Creativity, Reliability, Empathy, Accountability, Tenacity, Effectiveness and Sustainability.
